Based in Ottawa, Céline Bak is a Partner at the Russell-Mitchell Group which she founded together with her partner John Mertl in 2008. The Russell-Mitchell Group was formed to bring product commercialization to the same standard as the technical excellence for which Canadian companies are known world-wide. The firm assists investors and CEOs of technology-based companies to create and execute product commercialization strategies to become global market leaders. With the launch of the groundbreaking 2009 Cleantech Growth & Go-to-Market Report, the firm has led the thinking on the investment in and state of product commercialization among Ontario’s clean technology companies. With offices in Toronto and Ottawa, the Russell Mitchell Group serves clients in Clean Technology, Information Technology, Telecommunications, and Biotechnology.
Céline began her career as an independent management consultant to British Airways in London. Based in Toronto and later Madrid, and working throughout the U.S. and Europe, she then joined A.T. Kearney, a management consulting firm with 52 offices worldwide, where she spent ten years delivering North American and European consulting engagements to Fortune 500 companies in new market strategies, business risk management, cost reduction, organizational structure, and business process restructuring. Céline’s clients spanned industries such as global IT service providers, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, insurance, professional services, and manufacturing.
Based in London and Madrid, she later took responsibility for EMEA Professional Services and Business Management for the Solect Technology Group, a Canadian software company which was purchased by Amdocs (DOX) for $1.2 billion. At Ottawa-based Bridgewater Systems, a leading mobile telecommunications software manufacturer, Celine led the company’s product and partnerships strategy, designed and executed a product commercialization strategy to drive a 50% increase in revenues, and held CEO responsibilities.
Céline holds a Hon. Bachelor of Commerce degree from Guelph University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Bath, U.K. She received a full scholarship and graduated from Lester B. Pearson United World College of the Pacific, and is an alumna of the International Rotary Graduate Scholarship Program. She and her husband have three daughters.
